Ballet

Children are accepted into the pre school class from approx 3 years of age. Ballet is taught at this level using imaginative themes, songs and rhymes with use of props and toys. We have live piano accompaniment at our Wye classes. The emphasis is on having fun but children will gain strength, co-ordination, spatial awareness and confidence. From approx age 5 children will progress to the ISTD imperial ballet syllabus.         

The roots of Imperial Classical Ballet stem from the early days of the ISTD and the first written syllabus in 1913 which was based on the teaching of the French School from the Paris Opéra. The syllabus has now evolved to promote the English classical style and address the changing needs of Ballet dancers today. ISTD Website
