Welcome back after the long summer break. I hope you’re all feeling refreshed and recharged. This term’s newsletter features exam results, new classes and a request of parents. Please also remember that invoices are not issued for classes, so please make payment to Liz for this term’s classes as soon as you can.
The newsletter will be distributed in paper form by Liz and Annie, and can also be downloaded to your computer by clicking here.
Liz
Update: There is a new version of the newsletter available for download above – the earlier version contained a Modern & Tap class on the Wednesday timetable that should have been deleted before it was published. Apologies for any confusion.
A very late Easter and a royal wedding has meant the Summer Term is starting a little later than usual. But we had some unseasonably lovely weather to go along with the extended break, so no doubt there weren’t many complaints. In this term’s newsletter we have some information about exams for those that are eager to gain their next grade. There is also some information about the various disruptions to the timetable.
If you haven’t already received a paper copy, or have misplaced it and want another one, then you can download it here.
On Sat 12th March, Annie’s tap and modern grade 2/3 class performed their show routines (Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and Jailhouse Rock) at the Thanet Music and Drama Festival in Birchington. Cue much nervousness and excitement!
The routines went well and the group finished 4th in both sections, a great result for their first competition together!
The adjudicator had some particularly positive things to say…
A fun group which was entertaining to watch – rhythmically secure…
Very good costumes which were simple and effective. Good choice of steps which kept the gene of this style….
The group scored an excellent 81% for their tap routine, and 83% for modern! Congratulations to the group and to Annie for doing themselves and the school proud.
A big welcome to all the new visitors. Looking at the website stats we’ve had quite a few people looking at the site over the last few days, and the gallery in particular seems to be very popular! I think you’ll agree that the photos taken by Martin Fagg are wonderful, and enhance the website enormously. If you see a picture on the site that you’d like to order, head over to our contact page and tell us which one you’d like.
The number of people visiting the site is particularly gratifying as the site hasn’t officially launched yet. We’re planning to do so after the half-term break, so if you think there’s anything about the site that can be improved, or there is stuff missing from the site, then please do get in touch sooner rather than later. Your feedback will help the site be as good as it can be when open the site to search engines and start publicising it in earnest.
One of the ways we plan to raise the profile of the site is on Facebook. You may already have popped over there to see our Facebook Page, if not then please do so and click on the ‘Like’ button (if you’re old enough to have a Facebook account, of course). Please encourage your friends to have a look too. Even a little action like that helps publicise the school across Kent.
We’ll be looking to add more content to the website and Facebook page as often as we can. In particular we’re hoping to get a video or two uploaded, and we’re also looking forward to the competition next month in Birchington that Annie is taking a group to. However, if there is any other content you think would enhance the site then do let us know.
If you want to keep in touch with what’s happening then sign up to the news updates by entering your email in the box at the bottom left of any page. This will ensure that any updates to the site are also emailed through to you, so you’re one of the first to be in the know.
One thing to be careful of when you sign up is to make sure you click the confirmation link in the subsequent email, otherwise you won’t get the updates. If you don’t receive an email (they normally come through almost immediately) then check your spam folder.
Some of the many wonderful photographs taken by Martin Fagg of our successful show last November are now in our gallery. Please pop over and have a look.
If you’d like to order prints of any of the photos shown, or would like to see the other photos that Martin took, then please contact Liz via the contact form.
